Burr Exchange

This new two-story mixed-use building replaces a former barn structure once associated with the historic Alfred H. Burr House (built in 1878) in Moorestown, New Jersey. Designed as a respectful addition to the property, the project builds on the Italianate architectural character of the original building—continuing its rhythm, proportions, and decorative language while accommodating modern commercial needs.

The ground floor provides flexible retail space with generous storefront windows and a welcoming covered entry, while the second floor houses light-filled professional offices. Traditional Italianate detailing—such as bracketed eaves, vertically proportioned windows, and a simple gable roof—helps the new building blend seamlessly with its historic setting. The result is a contemporary structure rooted in local history, supporting small businesses while reinforcing the architectural continuity of the site.
